Team - Volunteer Positions
It takes a lot to organize all of the events and activities that are a part of the summer swim season. To make the swim team experience enjoyable for all swimmers, we try to include team activities that do not revolve around swimming. We would greatly appreciate help in the following areas.
Social Committee: Group of individuals that would help plan/coordinate the two team events (Season Kick-Off Party and the End of Season Party)
Fun Fridays Committee: Typically, coaches and/or parents plan/organize team bonding experiences that swimmers participate in during normal practice times on Friday mornings. Activities have included silly water games, making tie-dye t-shirts or posters, etc.
Concessions Coordinator: Assists in the purchase and sale of food items at home meets and coordinates staffing at the concession table.
Meets - Volunteer Positions
The specific types of volunteer positions that will need to be filled at each meet will depend on the type and location of meet. Parents are asked to sign-up for at least one position per family at each dual meet. Please sign-up through the "Job Sign-Up" for each meet on the Sign-Up Calendar. Please read the following descriptions to determine which job is best for you.
Timer: Time swimming events using stopwatches and record times on sheets (Must have 3 timers for each lane)
Head Timer: Coordinates timers at each lane, provides backup watches in case of error or missed start (home meets only)
Runner: Collect time sheets after each event and deliver them to the scorers at the scoring table
Scorers: Process time sheets, circle highest score, and deliver sheets to computer operator
Clerk of Course: Line up swimmers for each event/heat in advance
Heat Winners: Hand out Heat Winner prizes to fastest swimmer in each heat
Ribbons: Create ribbons for events based on the results (ribbons for positions and best time) by applying printed labels
Concessions Staff: Assists in the sale of food items (home meets only)
Announcer: Broadcasts messages to all meet attendees. Instructs swimmers when they should report to the Clerk of Course for their events and announces all events and the numbers of heats to attendees (home meet only)
Stoke-and-Turn Judge: CMSL Certification is required; you must have some familiarity with proper stroke technique and complete an online training course. Please let Michelle know if you are interested.
